She was a native of Manteo and resident of Stumpy Point 55 years. She was a daughter of Major C. and Mrs. MAGGIE ELIZABETH HAVES PUGH. She was a member of Stumpy Point Demonstration Club and Manns Harbor Woman's Club. She was a Woman's Club nominee for mother of the year. She also was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church and its Woman's Society of Christian Service, Roanoke Island Eastern Star Chapter 79 and Manteo Rebekah Lodge 52. Surviving are 2 sons, HORACE HOOPER of Stumpy Point and Major M.I. HOOPER of the Air Force in St Louis, Mo; 3 daughters, Mrs. HAZEL BELL of Norfolk, Mrs. JOHN ZACKARY of Virginia Beach and Mrs. DORIS TWIFORD of Stumpy Point; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 8, 1966 at 2:30 pm EST in Shiloh Methodist Church by the Rev W.L. BARBEE. Burial will be in Stumpy Point Cemetery. Ivey H. Hooper, 79, of the 800 block of Fallcreek Run, died Oct. 26, 1999, in Sentara Leigh Hospital. He was born Sept. 3, 1920, to the late Alonza Calvin and Willie R. Meekins Hooper of Stumpy Point, N.C. Mr. Hooper was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Norfolk. He attended Stumpy Point High School, Louisburg College and Morehead City Tech Institute, affiliated with N.C. State University. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 28 years of service. Ivey was an avid golfer at Kempsville Greens. Survivors include his wife, Mildred J. Hooper; two daughters, Jo Ann Zimmerman and husband, Gary, of Nashville, N.C., and Susan H. Lewis and husband, Ted, of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Leigh Ann and Joey Zimmerman and Jennifer Howard; a sister, Wilma Midgett of Stumpy Point; two brothers, C. McCoy Hooper and wife, Josie, of Virginia Beach and William M. Hooper and wife, Margie, of Smithfield, Va.; four nieces; and eight nephews. Mr. Hooper's body has been donated to the State Anatomical Division. Family and friends will gather following the memorial service, which will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 6 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2709 Greendale Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Dave Wade.
