Besides her husband, she is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. C.V. HAYES of Newport News; 1 son, W.H. JONES of Norfolk; 1 brother, I.R. HILLEBRAND of Newport News and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, April 6, 1959 in the chapel of the Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton. Burial will be in Hollybrook Cemetery there.

Age 21, of Pittsburgh, who was found at the Naval Base Friday, January 9, 1953 with a .45 caliber bullet wound in his head, died Saturday at 6:00 pm in the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. JONES, who was said to have been acting as sergeant of the guard at the base, was found Friday at 6:15 am by another Marine who had heard the shot. A .45 caliber automatic was on the floor at his side. An immediate investigation was ordered. JONES, the son of Mrs. RUTH M. JONES of Pittsburgh, served for 13 months in Korea before being transferred to the Naval Base a year ago. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 1,1948 and was with the 11th Marine Artillery when the First Marine Division participated in the Inchon landing during the opening months of the Korean War. In November 1951, he was assigned to the guard detachment at the Armed Forces Staff College. Following his re-enlistment last July, he was transferred to the Marine Barracks at the Naval Base.

Little Rock, Arkansas, October 15 - The well known evangelist of Cartsville, Georgia, died early Monday, October 15, 1906 of heart failure in a sleeping car on train No 4, of the Rock Island Railroad, near Perry, Arkansas. He had been conducting a most successful revival at Oklahoma City, O.T. and left there Sunday night, October 14, 1906 for his home in Georgia. He desired to attend a reunion Tuesday, October 16, 1906, the 59th anniversary of his birth. His wife and daughters, Mrs. ANNIE PYRON and Miss JULIA JONES, were with him when he passed away. He arose from his berth in the sleeper about 5:00 am Monday, October 15, 1906 and complained of nausea. He drank a glass of hot water and immediately collapsed. Rev WALT HOLCOMB, who had been associated with him for a number of years, took the dying man in his arms. In a few minutes, the evangelist breathed his last. The body was embalmed and was sent to Cartersville Monday morning, October 15, 1906. The funeral services will be conducted by the Rev GEO. STEWART, the Rev J.A. BOWEN of Mississippi and the Rev WALT HOLCOMB. At the Methodist Preacher's Conference, Monday, October 22, 1906, Rev Dr. STARR read a paper on the life and labors of the late Reverend. The paper spoke in high commendation. Resolutions were unanimously adopted expressing sympathy to the family. The pastors of McKendree, Whaleyville, Liberty Street, South Norfolk, Trinity, Centenary, Monumental and Cottage Place churches reported fair congregations at all the services Sunday, October 21, 1906. At Epworth Church, Dr. SMART received five new members in the church and at Cumberland Street Church, Dr. STARR baptized 3 infants.

The funeral will be held from his residence, No 220 Windsor Avenue, at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 21, 1906 and will be conducted by Rev GEORGE H. MCFADEN. The remains will be forwarded to Smithfield for interment.

Age 82, retired assistant postmaster, who served a half century in postal service in Norfolk, died Wednesday, December 9, 1953 at 7:00 pm in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness. A lifelong resident of this city, he was a son of HUBERT F. and Mrs. HARRIET E. CARLON JORDAN. Surviving are 1 sister, Mrs. CLAUDE M. LINDSAY of Norfolk; 2 nieces, Mrs. HARRIET FOSTER of Norfolk and Mrs. VEE GEORGE of California and 2 nephews, HUBERT C. JORDAN and J. WESLEY JORDAN, both of Norfolk. He was appointed clerk in the post office in July 1892, when the office was on the ground floor of the Custom House. His first assignment was under supervisor FRANK PHILLIPS in the Division of Mails, where he worked for 7 years. Next, he served in the registry division until October 1907, when he was promoted to special clerk. Three years later he became foreman. He became cashier in charge of the registry division in November 1910, moving the following July to cashier in the money order division, where he served until September 1922, when he was named assistant postmaster. When Postmaster CLINTON I. WRIGHT was appointed clerk of the United States District Court, he became acting postmaster. Later, when LAWRENCE C. PAGE succeeded WRIGHT as postmaster, JORDAN assumed his old post of assistant, ending his career under Postmaster ROBERT W. SHULTICE in 1941. During the Jamestown Exposition, he was selected by Postmaster S.B. CARNEY to act as superintendent of the model post office set up on the exposition grounds. He served under these postmasters: Captain F.L. SLADE, W.W. DEGGE, W.H.H. TRICE, WILLIAM T. ANDERSON, Colonel J.R. WADDY, Captain H.B. NICHOLS, S.B. CARNEY, Major CLINTON L. WRIGHT, JOHN A. LESNER, Major WRIGHT (second term), C.L. PAGE and ROBERT W. SHULTICE. The body was removed to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts for services Saturday, December 12, 1953 at 2:00 pm by the Rev SPARKS W. MELTON, D.D., pastor emeritus of Freemason Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers: GRIFFITH R. HALL, E. PRESLEY DAVIS, W.L. BARNES, R. EUGENE BACCHUS, HORACE C. A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 13, 1986 in New St Mark's Apostolic Faith Church by Elder ANGELO DAVIS. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
