A longtime resident of Murfreesboro, Mrs. Midgett, with her husband, was a founding member of the Stones River Country Club, where she was an avid golfer, and a member of the MTSU Dames Club. She was a member for many years at North Boulevard Church of Christ, and was most recently a member of Bellwood Church of Christ. Born September 21, 1912, in Lebanon, TN, Mrs. Midgett was the granddaughter Of William Haskell Neal, developer of Neal's Paymaster Corn and the first inductee into The Tennessee Agricultural Hall of Fame. She was a 1929 graduate of Watertown High School and a 1932 graduate of David Lipscomb College, receiving the honor of being named the college's first May Queen. She was also named Best All-Around Girl for 1931 and 1932 at Lipscomb. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. W. 'Wink' Midgett; son, Dan Earl Midgett. She is survived by brothers, Wilson David (Annie Laura) Grandstaff, Will Frank (Marguerite) Grandstaff; son, Don Carter Midgett (Carolyn); daughter-in-law, Sharon Midgett; grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert) Wright, Jeannette (Chris) Sockwell, Dan Earl (Jeneva) Midgett, II, and Jeanice (Wayne) Birch; 14 great-grandchildren.
