Raleigh, NC, February 26 - 39 year old operator of the Trucker's Grill near Apex, died at Rex Hospital Thursday, February 26, 1953 from a bullet wound inflicted by a 4 year old boy with whom he was playing cowboy and Indian. He was accidentally shot through the back with a .38 caliber pistol Monday, February 23, 1953 by GARY JAMES LITTLE, who picked the weapon up from behind the counter. The boy and his mother, Mrs. ALBERT J. LITTLE of San Antonio, Texas had stopped at the grill for breakfast. She said they were en route to New York where they were to sail for France to join her husband, an Air Force Major.

He was a member of the Glenmore Methodist Church, Loyal Order of Moose No 39, and was in the employ of the Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Corp. The body was taken to the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services at the funeral home at a time to be announced. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Friday, January 16, 1953 at 3:00 pm by the Rev BEVERLY FELTY, pastor of the Chesterfield Heights Methodist Church. He graduated from Norview High School in 1954, later going to the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, where he was graduated in June 1958. He had been in the Army about a month and was undergoing basic training when he was stricken Wednesday, April 1, 1959. He was a member of the Norview Baptist Church. He was a past president of Kappa Kappa Psi, music fraternity an charter member of the Norfolk Chapter. Besides his parents and his wife, surviving are 4 sisters, Mrs. STANLEY SMITH of Silver Springs, Maryland, Mrs. W.D. DUNCAN, Mrs. K.W. HORTON and Mrs. VIRGINIA BROWNING, all of Waynesville. Funeral services are incomplete, but the body will be brought to Norfolk for services and interment. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Monday, April 6, 1959 at 3:00 pm by the Rev THOMAS PUGH, pastor of the Williamsburg Baptist Church and the Rev SCOTT C. HUTTON, pastor of the Fox Hall Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Rosewood Memorial Park.
