FRANKLIN -- Elder James E. Perry Sr., 70, of the 200 block of Council Road, died May 29, 1998, in a Norfolk hospital. A native of Franklin, he retired from Newport News Shipbuilding, was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and later joined Mount Olive Holiness Church, Franklin. He was also the pastor of Word of Life Center, Aulander, N.C. Survivors include his wife, Marie Williams Perry; four daughters, Maria Perry of Plainfield, N.J., Frendessa Lucas of East Orange, N.J., Sylvia Perry of Franklin, and Louise Flythe of Richmond; two sons, James E. Perry Jr. and William T. Perry, both of Franklin; two sisters, Marie McLaughlin of Franklin, and Beatrice Watson of Newport News; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Holiness Church, Franklin, by Bishop Collins. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. The remains will be placed in the church by 11 a.m. William M. Johnson and Sons, Inc. is handling arrangements.
