SUFFOLK -- Edwin A. ``Ted'' Coyner Jr., 64, died in his home on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1999. A native of Newport News, he was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin A. Coyner Sr. and Elizabeth Ashby Peake Coyner, and his first wife, Beverly Coyner. Mr. Coyner was owner and CEO of Portsmouth Trailer Supply for 33 wonderful years. He was a member of the Church of St. Therese, a graduate of the College of William and Mary, Class of 1961, an apprentice of the Virginia Pilot Association, served in the Coast Guard Reserve, was a Mason and member of the Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also an active member of Hampton Roads Yacht Club, as boating was always his first love. Ted is survived by his buddy and devoted wife, Earlene Coyner; one daughter, Deborah C. Foster and her husband, Stanley H. Foster Jr., of Suffolk; one son, Edwin A. ``Ed'' Coyner III and his wife, Sheri E. Coyner, of Chesapeake; two sisters, Elizabeth C. Holtzclaw and her husband, John Holtzclaw, of Alexandria, Va., and Elaine Miller of Rocky Mount, N.C.; three very special grandchildren, Krystle Anne Foster, Stanley Alexander Foster and Edwin A. ``Alex'' Coyner IV; blessed mother-in-law, Christine ``Nan'' Nyman; sister-in-law, Christine ``Cris'' Nyman and her good friend, Jerry Calhoun. He will also be missed by his constant companions, Sunshine and Gator. Ted will always be remembered for his passion to help others, his loyalty to family and friends and the level of integrity he maintained in all aspects of his personal and professional life. He will be greatly missed by all of those who were fortunate to know him. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Church of St. Therese by Father Michael J. Bresslin and Father Robert Cummins. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Maryview Wellspring Hospice Program or the Salvation Army of Suffolk.

Mr. Craft was born in New Hanover County, December 5, 1913, the son of the late Edward Charles and Harriet Northam Craft Sr. Mr. Craft was a member of the Wrightsville United Methodist Church, the Wrightsville Beach Lions Club and was the owner of the former Craft American Hardware in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Swinson Craft in 1994. Survivors include his son E. Charles Craft III of the home, his daughter, Mary C. There were several obits with the spellings of IDA VORGINIA CRAWLEY, ADA VIRGINIA CRAWLEY and ADA VIRGINIA CRAWLEY and ADA VIRGINIA CROWLEY. They were the same. One talked of being a nurse. The next said she died at a brothers house, the third said she was a trained nurse and died at her brothers house. I am to assume they are one in the same and have combined the obits to read as follows) A professional nurse of this city, died suddenly at the residence of her brother, No 441 Ward Avenue, Monday, December 3, 1906 at 6:00 pm. While stated in her room about 6:00 pm, she became suddenly ill. Death ensued in a few moments. She was a graduate of Protestant Hospital. She had been a resident of Norfolk for 15 years. She was 34 years old, in her 35th year of age. The immediate cause of death being heart failure. She was well known as a trained nurse and was highly esteemed.
