VIRGINIA BEACH -- Stephen Herman Dodson Jr., 22, of the 100 block of S. Fir Ave., died May 30, 1998, as a result of an auto accident in Norfolk. Stephen, a native of Portsmouth, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Suffolk. Survivors include his parents, Stephen H. Dodson Sr. and Elizabeth Smith Dodson of Virginia Beach; a sister and her husband, Lisa M. and Garland Cherry; a niece, Jenna Cherry; a nephew, Christopher Wilson, all of Suffolk; maternal grandparents, Herman and Wynona Smith of Martinsville, Va.; paternal grandmother, Ruth Dodson of Blairs, Va.; and great-uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. William S. Dodson of Chesapeake. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, Suffolk. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times at his sister's home, 4604 Maplewood Drive, Suffolk. Norfolk- widow of Dr. Benjamin A. Doggett, died Wednesday, July 31, 1957 at 9:53 am in Norfolk General Hospital after a long illness. She had been active in civic affairs, sports and the religious life of Norfolk. At the time of her death, she was State Registrar of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had served as regent of the Great Bridge DAR Chapter. She was a member of the Women's Board of Norfolk General Hospital and of the Church of the Good Shepherd. The daugther of the late Linn Walker and Mrs. Annetta Puddicombe Searles, she was a native of Joliet, Illinois and resided in Louisiana and Bristol, VA before coming to Norfolk. She was married to Dr. Doggett in 1918. He died in 1948. A golf enthusiast, she participated in many tournaments. She was a member of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and the Princess Anne Country Club. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James M. Stewart of Norfolk, two grandchildren, James M. Stewart Jr and Benjamin Doggett Stewart, a stepmother, Mrs. Linn Walker Searles of of Chevy Chase, Maryland, two sisters, Mrs. T.C. V'Soske of Puerto Rico and Mrs. E.S. Adams of New York City and two brothers, A.E. Searles of Norfolk and J.C. Searles of Orange, Connecticut. The body was taken to the Cox Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 2, 1957 at noon at the Church of the Good Shepherd by the Rev Norman T. Slater, rector. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. He was the son of the late JESSE THOMAS and MARY WIGGINS DOUGHTIE of Hertford County, NC. He came to this community about 41 years ago from Hertford County, and has been one of the leaders as a farmer and merchant. He was a member of the Blackcreek Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. LILLIE MODLIN DOUGHTIE of Franklin; 1 daughter, Mrs. HOEN D. EDWARDS Senior of Zuni; 1 grandson, HOEN EDWARDS Junior; 1 half sister, Mrs. EMMA BARNES of Virginia Beach and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland and Sons of Franklin where funeral services will be held Saturday, December 26, 1953 at 2:30 pm. Burial will be in Popular Springs Cemetery, the Rev A.W.
